Sweet Vidalia Onion

A sweet onion, the Vidalia Onion is grown in an area defined by Georgia law.  Receiving its name because of its origin, Vidalia, Georgia, cultivation began in the 1930s.  It was named the official state vegetable of Georgia in 1990.
