The USS Constitution
The USS Constitution, affectionately called “Old Ironsides” is a wooden-hulled, three-masted frigate commissioned by the U.S. Navy. Launched in 1797, the Constitution was one of six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794. Built in the North End of Boston, she was designated a museum ship in 1907, and sailed under her own power for her 200th birthday in 1997, from her dock in the Charlestown Navy Yard.
